Getting started
How do I get an invite?
Mochi is invite-only while we test it with a small group of families. Leave your email under Request an invite and we’ll send you a code when there’s a place.
If someone has already shared a code with you, enter your code to set up your family.
If a class parent has invited you into a school group, that invite link works on its own, with no code needed.
What does it cost?
Mochi is free while we test it, and signing up takes a few minutes.
Which school years?
Reception to Year 6, following the maths national curriculum for England. From Year 4 there’s also Check practice for the multiplication tables check. See what each year practises.
What do we need to use it?
A web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. There’s nothing to download, and grown-ups sign in with Google or a link sent by email.
Can two grown-ups share a family?
Yes. Invite a second grown-up from Family in the grown-up area. They join your family without needing a code of their own, and see the same children, jobs and progress.
Children and school groups
Does my child need an email?
No. Children never need an email, a password or any other login. You add each child with a nickname and school year, and their school if you like.
What can other children see?
Nothing, unless you join a school group and choose to include your child. Then children in that group see their nickname, their buddy and whether they practised today or this week. Never scores, levels or stars, and children can’t message each other.
Does Mochi handle real money?
No. Mochi keeps track of each child’s stars and what they’re worth at your rate. You pay pocket money as you always do, then record it so the stars come off. You can also switch money off and keep stars for rewards.
Schools and safety
Do schools need to sign up?
No. Mochi is a family app, so there’s nothing for a school to sign up to, buy or manage. School groups are run by class parents: we give the role to parents we know, and a class parent can name one more, which is logged. Mochi for schools explains how.
Is Mochi only for England?
For now. The questions follow the national curriculum for England, and schools come from the official register of schools in England.
How is my child's data kept safe?
About your child we keep a nickname, school year and optional school, and what they do in Mochi: practice, jobs, stars, games and their buddy. For you, your email address, how you sign in and, if you use Google or Apple, your first name, which also names your family until you rename it. Family data is stored in London and the app’s servers run there too, while pages, and the quick sign-in check before each one, may come from a worldwide network nearer you, and our emails go out through a service in Ireland. Data is locked so one family can never read another’s. Nothing is sold, and there are no adverts or trackers. You can download your family’s data, or delete it, at any time from the grown-up area. Read more on Safety and in the privacy notice.
