Mochi for parents

See how your child is really getting on in maths, keep jobs and pocket money in one place, and hear about the week in a short email on Sunday.

Progress you can see

Every fact your child practises is tracked on its own. A fact is secure once they’ve answered it right and quickly three times.

  • The skill map shows each skill for their year, what it means in plain words, and how close it is to secure.
  • The times tables heat map shows every fact up to 12 × 12 at a glance, so you can see which ones still need work.

Choose this week's focus

If the class is working on the 3 and 4 times tables, pin them as this week’s focus. For seven days, about half of each session comes from that skill, mixed in with the rest.

Stop the focus whenever you like, and practice goes back to following the term.

Rewards and pocket money

Set jobs for each child and approve them from one list. Stars add up towards rewards you choose, such as picking Friday’s dinner.

Turn on pocket money and stars are worth pounds at your rate. Record a pay-out and the stars come off. Or switch money off, and stars only buy rewards.

A short email on Sunday

Every Sunday evening you get one email covering each child’s week: the days and minutes they practised, the facts that became secure, any focus, and their times tables check score if they tried one. One tap turns it off.

Calm when they need it

Calm mode gives a bigger keypad, more time before an answer counts as slow, and no bonus for speed. Your child can switch it on from their home screen.

Reception to Year 6

Mochi practises number facts, following the maths national curriculum for England. Each term has its own skills, in an order close to common school schemes.

From Year 4 there’s also Check practice, in the same format as the Year 4 multiplication tables check: 25 questions, 6 seconds each.
