Safe for children, private for families

How Mochi keeps children safe and family data private, in plain English. The full detail is in our privacy notice.

  • No adverts, ever

Mochi shows no adverts and has no advertising trackers. We never sell your family's data or share it for marketing.

  • No chat between children

Children can't send each other messages, pictures or links.

  • No leaderboards

Children are never ranked against each other. Games show a personal best only, and no other family sees your child's scores, levels or stars.

  • No email or password for children

You add each child with a nickname and school year, and their school if you like. That's all we ask. Children never sign up or sign in themselves, and a four-digit grown-up PIN keeps the grown-up area private.

  • Family data stored in London

Your family's data is kept in London, and every table that holds it is locked with row-level security, which automated tests check so one family can never read another's. Our emails go out through a service in Ireland, and pages reach you through a worldwide network.

  • Mistakes are soft

A wrong answer gets a gentle wobble and the right answer. No red, no crosses, nothing taken away, and no buddy that gets sad when a day is missed.

  • You stay in charge

You can delete a child, or your whole family and everything linked to it, at any time from grown-up settings. It goes straight away, apart from a few records the privacy notice lists, such as safety reports kept without your names.

What other children can see

Nothing, unless you choose. If your child’s year group has a school group and you join it, you pick which of your children to include.

Then children in that group see each other’s nickname, buddy and whether they practised today or this week. Never school years, scores, levels, stars or email addresses.

Any parent can report a family. The family is hidden from the group at once, and we review every report within 48 hours. You can leave a group at any time, and your family disappears from it straight away.
